Tips to Conquer Facebook, Twitter, and Google+

When it comes to social media, there is a whole slew of media sites to choose from. Each of them offering something a little bit different than the next one.

It is crucial to determine what your brand is in need of when it comes to social media in order to successfully and tactfully create a social media presence that will bring your business the best success as possible. We’re going to focus on only three social media platform options today: Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.

Facebook

Luana Spinetti shared 10 Essential Rules for Effective Facebook Marketing. I would suggest checking her article out for a very good and comprehensive list of items to keep in mind when advertising your brand on Facebook. I wanted to focus on just one of her major points.

In general, social media can be overwhelming. It is easy to get trapped into thinking you have to spend all your time posting and creating content, following up with comments, and engaging with your followers. Schedule a few times a week to check in, post new content, and catch up on notifications. Your responses will still send feedback notifications to your followers when you post it so don’t stress about responding as soon as your page gets a notification. However, do make it a priority to engage with your followers when you are online, even if it is only 3 or 4 times a week. Like, comment, and share to allow your followers to feel connected to your brand and your page.

Twitter

The main purpose for twitter can be boiled down to engagement with your followers. Your tweets should either encourage followers to engage with your post or should be you engaging with your followers through likes, replies, or retweeting.

According to the Social Media Examiner, actively engaging with your current followers is one of the top ways to increase your overall following on Twitter. Always try to engage with people who take the time to engage with you. Another way to engage and increase your following is to respond and retweet posts from large accounts/brands. The followers of the larger account will see your engagement and could lead them to your page as a result.

Google+ is probably the social media platform I know the least about and have the least amount of experience using.

What is Google+?

A very simple definition describes it has a social networking site that is owned and operated by Google. According to Buffer Blog, there are 5 Surprising Reasons to Reconsider Google+ as a component for your social media marketing plan. The reasons are as follows:

  1. Google+ content gets indexed immediately and shows up in search results
  2. Everyone you email can see your Google+ profile
  3. There’s a very specific, engaged demographic on Google+
  4. Google+ communities are powerful and popular
  5. These 10 major brands and influencers are seeing success on Google+ (see article for list)

The first two reasons show some clear advantages of being active on Google+. The site is definitely a useful tool for marketing and should be carefully considered as an addition to your brand’s social media marketing plan.

In summary, it is clear each of these social media sites offers a unique way for your brand to promote its image and creative ways to engage with its followers. Like any marketing decision, it is important to take the time to identify your goals and determine your audience before deciding which social media platforms to dive into. You may be surprised where your target audience is most prevalent.
